Debbie’s Shine Night Walk – Full Marathon Fundraising

BIL are proud to be sponsoring Debbie Farrell, wife to our Managing Director, Mark Farrell.

Debbie is taking part in the Shine Night Walk full marathon in London on the 23rd September this year and fundraise for Cancer Research UK specifically Prostate cancer in memory of her father.

The team at BIL think we can also raise a greater awareness of Debbie’s effort and raise a few extra pounds for her cause – so read on and find out more!

In Debbie’s own words…’Having recently decided to take up running and improve my general fitness along with two of my friends, we have decided to go one step further and take part in this year’s Cancer Research Shine Walk in London! This by no means is going to be easy, 26 miles walking through central London starting at 10.15pm on a Saturday night and could take us up to 11 hours solid walking. (I hope it doesn’t rain!)
As well as the fitness side of things this walk has inspired me to take part to raise vital funds for cancer research with 100% of my sponsorship money raised going specifically towards vital research into Prostate cancer. This is something which represents something very personal and emotional to me and indeed all my family having lost my very dear, beloved father to Prostate cancer. My Dad was a remarkable man demonstrating to all his beloved family how to tackle this disease head on. My Dad is a huge inspiration to me and someone whom I loved very, very dearly. I would appreciate any sponsorship money towards this challenge. Every penny no matter how small helps and I would like to raise as much money as possible and awareness too for this very worthy cause, but mainly for the true inspiration in my life, my hero, my beloved Dad.
Thank you.
Love Debbie xxxxxx’

Around 46,700 men are diagnosed with prostate cancer in the UK each year. That’s 130 cases each day.

The number of men diagnosed with prostate cancer has been increasing over the last 10 years. This might be because more men are having PSA tests and the population is getting older.

In adults, prostate cancer is the second most common cancer in the UK. In men, it is the most common cancer in the UK

So from all of us at BIL Castors, we’d like to wish Debbie all the best in her Shine Night Walk … lets hope it doesn’t rain and ask if you could kindly make any donation to help such a worthwhile cause!
